Let go

thunder and storm

I knew you when you wore anger,

when your steps across the floor

were thunder and storm.

I knew you when your words were fire,

enough to burn the world

and set the air to flame.

I knew you when your pain was hard and sharp,

nailed between each breath

and beat of your heart.

For you I stand witness.

No need to speak.

Just reach.

My open hands hold love, unseen.

It is yours, a gift.

I place it on the cooling ash

and let you be.
